In the post-apocalyptic world of The Last of Us, there are different kinds of Infected ranging from the fast and hungry Runners to the blind and even nastier Clickers that hunt their prey using a variation of echolocation. The top-tier of evolution for the Infected are called Bloaters. Created by four-time Emmy-winner prosthetics designer Barrie Gower, who did the prosthetics for HBO’s Chernobyl mini-series as well as the monsters from Stranger Things and HBO’s Game of Thrones. The specialized Bloater suit weighed about 88 pounds and was donned by the 6’6″ British stuntperson, Adam Basil. Basil has provided stuntwork for some of the biggest names including Tom Hardy in Venom 2 and the Beast for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast remake in 2017.
